What do we do?
What do we do with all this fear?
With all of the ways people are being targeted, how do we cope?
How do we find a way to keep going when we are gutted by the news, seeing people ripped from their homes?
Seeing people abuse power, choosing power over the care of their neighbors.
How did we get here?!
I think the saddest part is that this same pattern of behavior has been the “American way” since inception.
So what do we do?
We start with ourselves.
We look at where we might be harboring some hate.
Where we might not want to look.
You do not owe the governing body your blood; they are taking it.
You do not need to help them.
You can ally with your neighbors.
You can get a whistle and be part of an alert team.
You can boycott.
You can use your resources to protect and love your neighbor.
You can ask for help.
Seeing the resistance in Minnesota has lit our hearts ablaze again.
To be standing up, in the freezing temperatures for the love of self and each other.
That is beautiful.
Your humanity is powerful.
And when we are at a loss, down to the bottom of the barrel of “what do we do now.”
Let it be the hearts of the people standing in the cold that ignite your own!
Let us be so all consumed in the love of our community that we are no longer able to be silent.
Let us be so filled with care that we are moved to yell in the streets and lock arms with our neighbors.
Let us be so filled with rage that our hearts alchemize into action.
Let our collective hope ignite the fire of the sun so that every single member of ICE is melted down to the bone.
Let us forgive ourselves and start again.
Let us be the thing we were waiting for.
We are all in this together.
I believe in us.
I love us.

Actually that first comment was Sandi's room mate, Bubba.
Yes, we can choose to love ourselves and others, being prepared to emotionally embrace them.
We can take good care of ourselves so we can serve others.(If I am frazzled, exhausted, despondent, I am of no use to anyone or any cause.) This may mean taking in less information, especially that brought to us by any kind of tech. Enough sleep, eating a healthful diet, taking time to get centered daily, getting some exercise, working at remaining positive and hopeful.
We can do this and we can make a difference.
